The need for competency-based principals to recruit, select and train post-editors can significantly speed up a process which is becoming vital for keeping abreast with competitors in the translation sector, whether translators, Language Service Providers or educational institutions. Our approach combines well-known techniques with some relatively new features such as:
- PEMT definition focusing on SPEED, the POST-EDITOR himself (or herself) and post-editing of machine translation output QUALITY
- Motives, traits and self-concept as the lens shaping a translator’s final effort
- Creativity and decision-making as key competencies differentiating exceptional performers from the average translator
- Split principle for PE training
We hope our study can help academics, educators and practitioners cope with new, and what some believe to be disruptive, changes in the translation sector.
